What happens when the internet goes down: selling offline and syncing
ChecKmate saves your work on the device first and sends it to the cloud in the background. If the internet drops, the till keeps going - nothing is lost.
Selling while offline
Keep ringing up sales as normal. The Point of Sale works offline, and every sale is saved on the device. When a sale completes offline you see Offline Sale Completed!, and a counter shows how many sales are waiting to sync.
The wifi icon at the top of the POS shows the connection. A crossed-out icon means the device is offline.
When the internet comes back
You do not need to do anything. Waiting sales upload automatically when the device reconnects, and you will see Sync Successful with the number uploaded. While sales are waiting, a green pending badge with a sync button appears - press it to sync straight away.
Other screens while offline
Point of Sale, Business Notes, Task Management, Smart CRM and the Marketplace keep working offline. If you open something that needs the internet, ChecKmate asks whether to Stay on this page or Go to offline dashboard. The offline dashboard shows only the modules that work offline, and the full dashboard comes back on its own when you reconnect.
Checking that everything has synced
Go to Settings > System and find Synchronisation. You can see:
- the status - for example Online · Synced, meaning everything on this device has reached the cloud
- Last successful sync and Server availability
- Changes waiting to sync, Pending POS transactions and Pending Marketplace orders
If something failed to sync
If the status says Sync needs attention, the panel shows how many Failed items there are and the last error. Press Retry failed, or Sync Now. Failed items stay safely on the device until they upload, so nothing is lost.
If you are asked to sign in to sync, your login has expired - press Go to Sign In, sign in, and the sales upload.
Good to know
- Do not clear the browser's data or uninstall the app while sales are waiting to sync - that is the one thing that can lose them.
- Automatic is the recommended sync setting. Offline Only pauses syncing on purpose; switch it back to Automatic to send everything.
