How to update the ChecKmate Android app
ChecKmate for Android is improved all the time. The app tells you when a new version is waiting, and updating takes about a minute. It installs over the top of the app you have, so you stay signed in and nothing is deleted.
Before you start
- Connect the device to the internet, on Wi-Fi if you can. The update is about 50 MB.
- Open ChecKmate and go to the Dashboard.
Step 1: Open your profile menu
On the Dashboard, tap your profile picture at the top right.
Step 2: Find the update row
Look near the bottom of the menu, just above Log out. The app checks for a new version when you open it and again every 10 minutes.
- When a new version is waiting, the row says Update to and the new version number, with a New badge.
- When it just says Update App, tap it. The app checks again and either finds the update or tells you You are up to date with your version number.
Step 3: Tap the update row
The row changes to Downloading with a percentage. Keep the app open until it reaches 100%.
Step 4: Allow installs, the first time only
If Android asks to allow installs from ChecKmate, turn on Allow from this source, press Back, then tap the update row again.
Step 5: Tap Update on Android's own screen
Android shows its installer screen. Tap Update (or Install), then Open. Android always asks you to confirm this, so the app cannot do it for you. Sign in again if you are asked.
Step 6: Check you have the latest
Open the profile menu again and tap Update App. It should say You are up to date and show your version number.
If the update row does not show a New badge
- Check the internet connection, then close ChecKmate fully and open it again.
- Wait a few minutes and open the profile menu again.
- Use the website download below.
Update from our website instead
On the device, open checkmateposhub.com/download/android. The download of the newest version starts by itself. If it does not, press Download again. Open the downloaded file and tap Update.
If something goes wrong
- Couldn't check for updates: the device is offline. Reconnect and try again.
- Update failed: try once more. If it fails again, download it from the website above.
- Android says there is not enough space: free some storage, then update again.
If you got ChecKmate from an app store instead, update it there like any other app. On a computer or the web app, see How to get the latest version of Checkmate after an update. Still stuck? Press Get help in the help centre.
