How to set customer group prices on products
A group price is a special price on one product for one customer group - for example, Apple juice at J$250 for your frequent shoppers instead of the usual J$330. When a customer from that group is on the order, the POS uses their price automatically.
Before you start
Only groups set to Own price per product (or A rule for all products, with per-product prices) can have prices on products. If you have not set one up yet, see How to create and assign customer groups.
Step 1: Open the product
Open Products, edit the product and stay on the Basic Info tab. Scroll down to Customer Group Prices. Each group that has its own prices is listed here.
Step 2: Enter the group's price
Beside the group, choose how you want to set it:
- Price - type the exact selling price for the group.
- Cost + % - type a markup percentage and the price is worked out from the product's cost.
The Pays figure beside it shows exactly what the group will be charged. Leave a group empty to use its normal rule or your normal price.
Step 3: Save
Press Update Product (or Create Product) to save.
Step 4: See it at the POS
Select a customer from the group and add the product. The cart line shows the group's price with Group Price beside it.
Good to know
- A group price is only used when it is lower than the normal price. If you raise your normal price later, the group price still applies; if you drop the normal price below it, the customer gets the lower normal price.
- Group prices also apply on invoices and quotes.
- After saving, re-open the product to check the price stuck. If it did not, let us know through Submit a Ticket.
