How to record spoilage and waste of ingredients
Step 1: Find the ingredient
Open Recipe & Ingredients and go to All Items > Items. Your ingredients and materials are listed with their stock, unit and cost.
Step 2: Record the spoilage
Open the ingredient's menu and choose Record Spoilage. Enter the Spoiled Quantity, choose the Reason for Spoilage - Expired, Damaged, Contaminated, Overripe, Moldy or Other - add a note if you like, and press Record Spoilage. The quantity comes off the ingredient's stock.
Step 3: See your spoilage records
Open the Spoilage tab. Each record shows the date, item, quantity, unit cost, Est. Loss, reason, notes and who recorded it. The total estimated loss is shown at the top. Filter by month, ingredient or reason.
Good to know
- Spoilage also shows in the ingredient's Stock History.
- Finished products that go bad (rather than ingredients) are written off from Products > Inventory > Stock Write-Off.
