How to read and print an X-Report and a Z-Report
Both reports summarise the current register session:
- X-Report - a check during the shift: items sold, the payment breakdown and total sales so far. Printing it does not close anything.
- Z-Report - the end-of-day report: payments, tips, refunds, cash in and out, and the expected cash breakdown. Print it when you close the register.
Step 1: Open Close Register
On the POS, open the menu (the three lines above the cart) and choose Close Register. Opening this window does not close the register - you can look and print, then press Cancel.
Step 2: Choose the report
At the bottom of the window, press Print X-Report or Print Z-Report.
Step 3: Check it and print
The report opens on screen. Press Print to send it to your receipt printer, or Cancel to go back.
What the X-Report shows
The register, who opened it and when, the report time, every item sold with quantity and amount, the payment breakdown (cash, card, charge account and so on), the number of transactions and total sales.
What the Z-Report shows
The payment breakdown, a tips summary (cash and card tips), a refunds summary, cash movements (cash in and cash out) and the expected cash breakdown for the drawer.
Tips
- Print the Z-Report and keep it with the cash from the drawer at the end of each day.
- The same figures are kept in ChecKmate after closing - see the Register Summary and Daily Sales reports under Reports.
