How to delete products
You can remove products you no longer sell one at a time or several at once. Deleting is permanent, so if a product has ever been sold or invoiced, Checkmate asks you to make it unavailable instead - it disappears from the till and invoices, but your sales history stays correct.
Step 1: Open Products and switch to List View
From the Dashboard open Products. Near the top left of the toolbar there are two small view buttons - press the list one (the lines icon). List View shows your products in rows, which makes them easy to tick.
Step 2: Turn on Bulk Actions
Press Bulk Actions on the right, above the list. A tick box appears beside every product.
Step 3: Choose the products
- Several products: tick the box beside each one. Use the search bar to find them quickly - your ticks stay as you search.
- Just one product: you can skip the ticks and press the bin icon at the end of its row instead.
Step 4: Delete them
Open Bulk Actions again - it now says how many products are selected - and choose Delete Products at the bottom of the menu.
Step 5: Confirm
Checkmate asks you to confirm because this cannot be undone. Press Delete Products to finish, or Cancel to keep them.
If a product will not delete
A product that has been used in a sale, an invoice or a purchase order cannot be deleted, because your records still point to it. Make it unavailable instead:
- Tick the product(s) as in Step 3.
- Open Bulk Actions and choose Make Unavailable.
Unavailable products no longer show on the POS or when you create invoices, but every past sale keeps its details. To bring one back, tick it and choose Make Available. You can see everything you have hidden under Inventory > Unavailable Products.
