How to change your PIN in ChecKmate
Your PIN is the 4-digit code you use to sign in to the Point of Sale and to approve things like refunds and price changes. You can change your own PIN at any time, and an admin can set a new one for any staff member who has forgotten theirs.
Change your own PIN
Step 1: Open your profile menu
Press your profile picture at the top right of the Dashboard, then choose Change PIN.
Step 2: Enter the new PIN twice
Type your new 4-digit PIN in PIN (4 digits), type it again in Confirm PIN, then press Update PIN. Use the new PIN the next time you sign in to the POS.
Reset a staff member's PIN (admins)
Step 1: Find the person in User Management
Open User Management from the Dashboard. On the Users tab, press the ... at the end of the person's row and choose Reset PIN.
Step 2: Set their new PIN
Enter the new 4-digit PIN twice and press Update PIN. Give the person their new PIN privately - they can change it to one of their own choosing straight away using the steps above.
Tips
- Never share PINs. Every sale, refund and approval is recorded against the PIN that was used.
- Avoid easy PINs like 1234 or 0000.
- If someone leaves the business, deactivate them in User Management rather than just changing their PIN.
