How to change a price at the POS
Sometimes an item needs to sell at a different price just this once - a damaged box, a price you quoted, or a price that is wrong on the shelf. A price change at the POS changes the price for that sale only. The product's own price never changes, and every change needs the PIN of someone allowed to change prices.
Step 1: Turn on price changes (owners and admins)
Go to Settings > Financial > Discounts, scroll to Price Changes at the POS and turn on Allow Price Changes at the POS. Who can approve is set by the Change Prices permission under User Management > Role Permissions.
Step 2: Tap the price on the cart line
At the POS, the price under each cart item is now underlined. Tap it.
Step 3: Type the new price
In Change price, type the new price for each item. Underneath you can see how much it goes up or down per item and the new line total. Press Continue.
Step 4: Get it approved
Choose the person approving the change from the list - only people allowed to change prices are shown. If that is you, choose your own name.
The approver enters their 4-digit PIN.
Done
The cart line shows the old price crossed out, the new price, and who approved it - for example Price changed by James Brown.
Good to know
- Prices can go up as well as down.
- The change only affects this sale. To change a product's price for good, edit the product - see How to change or add prices to products in ChecKmate POS.
- Every change is recorded with the old price, the new price and the approver.
