How to add line-item discounts in ChecKmate POS

A line-item discount takes money off one item in the cart - for example 15% off a smoothie - while everything else stays at full price.

Step 1: Turn on line-item discounts (owners and admins)

Go to Settings > Financial > Discounts and scroll to Discount Controls. Turn on Enable Line-Item Discounts. Turn on Show Line-Item Discounts on Receipt too if you want the customer to see each item's discount on their receipt.

The By role table now has an Item discounts column. Switch it on for each role allowed to give item discounts, choose which kinds they may use (Percentage, Fixed Amount, Final Price), and press Save.

Step 2: Press the tag on the item

At the POS, each item in the cart now has a tag icon. Press the tag on the item you want to discount.

Step 3: Choose how to discount it

The Discount item window opens. Choose:

• Final Price - type the price you agreed with the customer.
• Percentage - type the percentage off.
• Fixed Amount - type the amount off.

Step 4: Check and apply

Type the value. The window shows the Original price, the Discount and the new Selling price. Press Apply.

The item now shows its old price crossed out and the item discount underneath. The totals show the Original value and the Item discounts taken off.

Good to know

• To remove the discount, press the tag again and set it back to the original price.
• You can combine item discounts with an order discount; the limits for each role still apply.
• Line-item discounts work on invoices and quotes too.
